Legion Baseball
Post 78 sponsors two American Legion Baseball teams. Senior Team ages 19 years old and under (19U) and a Junior Team ages 17 and under (17U). Both teams were comprised of very talented and skillful ball players. Legion baseball season is compact and short with 27 games to be played in 35 days.
Our Sr. team played and battled hard but fate was not on there side losing too many close games. Their win loss record is no indication of their capability. Our Jr. team start was a little bumpy and after making early season corrections they finished with a sixteen winning streak getting them into the State playoffs. This link is a photo album/slideshow of the first play off game against Westport. Our Color Guard was present for the opening ceremonies and the National Anthem. They went on to the State Championship Tournament only to be eliminated after the first game.
2011 was a great baseball season for our teams as they represented Post 78 with excellent sportsmanship, dedication, teamwork and individual skill. Post 78 is proud of this program, it’s players coaches and the support of the parents and look forward to a successful season in 2012.
